Los Cojolites

The soundtrack to the film "Frida" was what got me into Mexican folk music. There is a band from Mexico on that soundtrack called Los Cojolites. Their music gives me goosebumps. Probably because their music feels so alive with life. I don't know how else to describe it. I found this one video of them playing acoustically to a small audience, and I could listen to this on repeat every day.
The day I get married, I want them to play at my wedding. I just love their music and their sound.

Please listen to them, I promise you won't be disappointed. That is, if you are open minded in your music tastes.

Today I am finishing up painting #6 for my Mexican culture series. This one is a painting of a napping sombrero against a cactus in the dessert. It's supposed to look like it's painted on a hanging wall plate.

When I paint, I usually accompany that with many cups of tea throughout my day. I like Yogi tea the most, because of their flavors. Right now my favorites are Egyptian LIcorice and Sweet Aztec Chili. I have been wanting to try the Lavender & Honey one. Also, I usually have a Pandora station blasting to keep me zoned out. Usually I have my Blossom Dearie station or my Chillwave station. Sometimes I like to alter it with Spotify if I am feeling picky.

To any artists reading my blog: what do you like to keep as background music while you paint?
